The Rio Grande Water Conservation District (R.G.W.C.D.) is governed by a Board of Directors who are appointed for three year terms by each of the San Luis Valley Board of County Commissioners within the District. The County Commissioners appoint two directors from each county, with the exception of Mineral County which only appoints one director.

Duties
The directors are responsible for the overall development of District projects and programs. The directors are also the decision making body for any and all legal decisions and policy statements, etc.
Meetings
The R.G.W.C.D. Board of Directors meets on a quarterly basis on the third Tuesday of January, April, July, and October.
