Board of Managers

The Board of Managers is composed of ten members and one Ex Officio member:

  • The members shall be landowners or legal representatives of landowners within the Subdistrict #1 boundaries
  • Two members shall be landowners and water users in the San Luis Valley Irrigation District
  • One member must be a stockholder and a water user from the Prairie Ditch company
  • One member shall be stockholder and a water user from the San Luis Valley Canal Company
  • One member must be a stock holder and a water user from the Billings Ditch Company
  • Four members shall be stock holders and water users from the Rio Grande Canal Water Users Association
    • One of which must live in Rio Grande County and another must reside in Saguache County
    • One member must own land with only groundwater
  • One member of the board shall reside in each of the counties with lands within Subdistrict #1 which include, Alamosa, Rio Grande and Saguache counties
  • The Ex-Officio member shall be a member of the Board of Directors for the Rio Grande Water Conservation District.

Duties

The Board of Managers purpose is to carry out the general supervision and operational management of Subdistrict #1.  Part of their duties was to create a plan of water management to benefit the property within the Subdistrict.  The Board of Managers operates as its own unit in addition to working in conjunction with the Rio Grand Water Conservation District Board of Directors.

Meetings


Regular meetings occur on the first Tuesday in the months of April, March, June, September and December.  Please see our home page or calendar for specific dates, times and locations.
